Mysteries of Initiation (Baptism, Chrismation & Eucharist) - Infants: Parents must be active members of the parish family. Pre-Baptism instructions are required (one session with both parents and godparents).
- Adults: The CCEO requires a longer and more thorough preparation of an adult catechumen. Discernment (i.e. initiation into the spiritual life, so-called mystagogy) and study (i.e. catechesis) in the length of half a year is recommended.
Mystery of Crowning (Wedding): At least one party must be an active member of the parish family. Please schedule the first meeting with a priest at least half a year in advance for the initial preparation. The Pre-Cana program is required and 3 sessions with Fr. Lukas (if Pre-Cana does not take place, it will be replaced with an additional 6 sessions on the practical aspects of marital life). The ceremony is celebrated according to the prescriptions of the liturgical book of the Byzantine Rite.
Mystery of Reconciliation: Celebrated Saturdays at 2:30pm in the Church; also upon individual request and regularly before or after every Divine Liturgy.
Mystery of Anointing: In non-emergency cases it is celebrated upon request; ideally in Church the Sunday before undergoing any surgical or other medical procedure. In cases of emergency, please have your relatives reach the priest on his cellphone (both call and text recommended).
Holy Communion for the Homebound: Parishioners confined to their homes or nursing homes due to health reasons are visited monthly. Please let us know if you are ill and confined to home.
Hospital Calls: Please notify the Parish Office when you or a member of your family is hospitalized. Be sure to let the hospital know that you are Catholic and if you would like the Catholic Chaplain to visit with Holy Communion. If it is an emergency, make sure that your relatives reach the priest on his cellphone (both call and text recommended).
Funerals: Contact funeral director of choice to meet and do the initial arrangements with the funeral home; ask the funeral director to call the Parish Office to arrange a date and time. A meeting of the priest and the family of the deceased is highly recommended before the funeral.
Sponsor Requirements: Requests for sponsor certificates are directed to a priest. Individuals must be practicing members of the parish, at least 16 years of age, and have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. If married, they must be in a marriage accepted by the Catholic Church.
