  * Since the feast of Nativity is celebrated on Sunday, the Royal Hours are celebrated on Friday and no Divine Liturgy takes place (it is so-called aliturgical day).
  ** On Saturday, only abstinence from meat and dairies takes place. In our rite, there is difference between “abstinence” and “fasting” (although people often confuse it). “Simple abstinence” means that the one is abstaining from some type of food, yet freely eats as much as is healthy. “Day of Strict Fast” involves abstaining from all food for a certain period of time (water, tea, and coffee and 2 refreshments with a small amount of food are allowed during the “fasting period”).
